Sumalee Boxing Gym Review
Winning the Prize
Last year I fought on the Clydebank Blitz promotion near Glasgow in Scotland which is run by Craig Floan. My friend, Richard Darcy, entered the raffle and the main prize was two weeks training and accommodation at one of the top gyms in Phuket, Thailand called Sumalee Boxing Gym. Luckily Richard had never so much as stepped foot in a commercial gym, let alone a Thai gym, and donated the prize to me.
Training Holiday
So me and my partner decided to make a bit of a holiday out of it and took her seven year old son along with us. The facilities here at Sumalee are five star! The rooms are better than some hotels I have stayed in; well equipped, up to date and very clean.
Sumalee Ringside Restaurant
The restaurant is brilliant, caters for everyone from fussy kids to dieting fighters. There is a huge variety on the menu and if there is something you don’t see, then just ask the staff who are more than willing to try and help.
Sumalee Facilities
The swimming pool is great to occupy the family whilst you head off to train and a great place to chill between sessions
Muay Thai Training
My main focus when it comes to training is pads, you need good padwork and all the pad men here are brilliant. The trainers are very good at breaking down the techniques they’re teaching you and showing you all the sneaky tricks to catch out your sparring partners.
Muay Thai Fight
I came out here with a seven year old boy and a fiancé who was six months pregnant. We were all well cared for by all the staff at Sumalee. I also got to take part in my first full rules Muay Thai fight and won by KO in Round 1 at Bangla Boxing Stadium. An excellent way to top off an already fantastic experience!
