Solo Female Transformation and Muay Thai Training in Thailand
The following is a blog testimonial from a recent guest at Sumalee Boxing Gym, Frankie (NZ), who wanted to share her experience with others wanting to take the leap to train at a Muay Thai gym in Thailand.
Frankie’s Story
Embarking on a solo journey to Thailand to train in Muay Thai can be one of the most empowering and transformative experiences. As someone who has recently taken this leap, I want to share my story and inspire other solo female to do the same.
The Decision to Travel Solo
Planning my next trip to Thailand was a decision rooted in self-discovery and a desire to push my limits. As a beginner in the world of Muay Thai, the idea of joining a gym with 60 students in one class was overwhelming. I needed a place where I could focus, away from the distractions of nightlife and crowds. I found the perfect spot – Sumalee Boxing Gym – nestled away from the bustling bars, providing a serene environment for a true reset.
Finding Routine and Balance
My journey was about more than just physical training; it was about finding a routine that nourished my body and mind. Each day began with a healthy breakfast, followed by a structured meal plan including lunch, dinner, and protein smoothies. This regimen kept me away from unhealthy habits and focused on my goals.
The gym’s environment encouraged a disciplined lifestyle. With no temptation to drink or indulge in junk food, I dedicated myself to training and self-improvement. Meeting like-minded people and honing my techniques was incredibly fulfilling. Every day was a step closer to becoming a better version of myself.
A Life-Changing Experience
Before coming here, my life was chaotic. I was partying too much, sleeping during the day, and lacking direction. But in Thailand, everything changed. Waking up to a delicious breakfast, choosing from a diverse menu, and engaging in rigorous yet enjoyable training sessions brought a sense of purpose.
The training was tough, but it was exactly what I needed. The coaches were supportive and skilled, especially my favourite, who, despite being the scariest, corrected my techniques and pushed me to improve. As a result, I became fitter, stronger, and more confident. Even my social media followers noticed the positive change, commenting on how great I looked.
Beyond Physical Fitness
The benefits of this journey extended beyond physical fitness. My mental health improved significantly in a short time. The gym offered additional activities like ice baths and yoga, which I eagerly tried. These experiences not only enhanced my physical well-being but also helped me relax and find inner peace.
This trip has truly brought me out of my shell. I’ve learned so much, not just about Muay Thai, but about myself. The supportive community and the structured environment have been crucial in this transformation.
An Invitation to Empower Yourself
If you’re a solo female traveller considering a trip to Thailand to train in Muay Thai, I encourage you to take the plunge. This journey is not just about learning a martial art; it’s about discovering your strength, building confidence, and finding a healthier, more balanced life. Embrace the challenge, and you’ll come out stronger, both physically and mentally.
Thailand awaits, and so does your transformation. Take the leap, and you’ll never look back.
